Mitooma District benefits from Parish Development Model programme
Since the inception of Parish Development Model (PDM), Mitooma District has cumulatively received Shs. 23,717,872,000 which has been disbursed to 24,049 beneficiary households. Mitooma District has a total of 51,093 Households, out of which 24,049 have benefited from PDM thus constituting 47.1% of the total households. This third quarter of the Financial year 2025/2026, the district received 3.850Billion to be disbursed to 77 parishes (each taking 50Million).
The Parish chiefs, Town Agents and Agriculture Extension Workers are spearheading formation and implementation of Practical Training Centres (PTCs) and selection of Community Based Facilitators (CBFs) for each enterprise which provide hands-on training, skill development, and enterprise selection guidance to beneficiaries. These centers are intended to alter the approach away from just disbursing funds and toward ensuring that recipients have the capacity, relevance, and sustainability to use the funds effectively for economic transformation, with financing frequently contingent on finishing the training.
While the Coordinator for Operations Wealth Creation – Maj. Apollo Ahimbise was on the training of selected beneficiaries at Practical Training Centre in Buharambo Cell, Ward I, Mitooma Town council on 26th November 2025, he expressed his heartfelt gratitude to the President of Uganda for bringing this PDM initiative that has enabled people in communities to participate in the money economy. He further stated that beneficiaries should use the money for its intended purpose and practice the skills learned during the course.
