Training on institutionilisation of innovation culture in public service in Mitooma District.

The ministry of Public Service through the Civil Service College organised a training on institutionilisation of innovation culture in public service which took place on July, 16th, 2026 at the districyt headquarters in the new council hall. The training was attended by heads of departments, sub sector heads, sub county chiefs and town clerks.

One of the trainers said that innovation means implementing new or improved ideas that create value by improving service delivery. Innovation helps in improving service delivery, increasing efficiency, reducing costs, improving accountability and transparency, and finally using limited resources more effectively. He quoted that innovation = better results + better citizens experience. He also took us through the approaches to innovation and finally gave participants a group activity which included identifying a problem in local government, providing new ideas, benefits and the first action. Members partcicpated in that activity and all the three groups presented their solutions. This showed that they were attentive during the training and understood everything.

Masereka Amis Asuman – the Chief Administrative officer during his remarks thanked the officials from ministry of public service for this iniative of training staff in Mitooma. He also reminded participants to perform their duties deligently, even when there are limited resources. He added that members should adopt the way of bringing new ideas while performing their roles  inorder to improve on service delivery. He finally encouraged staff members to always be innovative and get themselves something that can earn them a living apart from salaries.
